Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan, left for the US two days ago to crack a deal with Hollywood distributors for Kites. Rakesh Roshan is very keen on distributing an English version of the film worldwide and decided it was time to head Westward.
Kites is now expected to hit theatres by January 2010.
Sources say that the film has yet to generate the kind of buzz that major films in India have, let alone pip the curiosity of the international media. Some reports have even gone on to say that the initial buzz about the film has already died out. While Hrithik’s Greek God-like look in the film has stirred some interest, the only curiosity factor that remains now is the lead actress Barbara Mori, who has been kept under wraps so far.
Time is proving to be the Roshans’ biggest enemy as the longer it takes to release, the sooner the death of the curiosity factor and that’s why the Roshans want to crack the overseas deal as soon as possible. When contacted, Hrithik’s manager Ashok Vasodia confirmed that Hrithik had left for US, but said, “I don’t know the reasons for his visit.”
Meanwhile, Hrithik has been busy with his shooting schedule for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish opposite Aishwarya Rai. Hrithik will apparently be singing a song to be recorded by Bhansali who is also composing the film’s music. However, this is not the first time Hrithik has lent his voice to a film — he has already made his singing debut in Kites.
